The Tree HRB-303 series affordable digital balances with glass draft shield offer high quality weighing features to just about any customer at an affordable price tag for the thrifty consumer. These lab balances are compact, feature a large backlit LCD display, rugged ABS housing, heavy duty load cell and are easy to use. These affordable digital lab scales offer high performance at a great price with 300 gram capacity and 0.001 gram readability. HRB 303 balances meet the highest technical weighing requirements for a balance in its class and are usually thought of by most customers as the best analytical balance under $500 that you're going to find.
Sometimes customers and salespeople throw around the term analytical balance when we discuss a balance like this. Technically according to Wikipedia an analytical balance is a class of balance designed to measure small mass in the sub-milligram range. The measuring pan of an analytical balance (0.1 mg or better) is inside a transparent enclosure with doors so that dust does not collect and so any air currents in the room do not affect the balance's operation. This enclosure is often called a draft shield. So this balance doesn't measure in the sub milligram range but it does measure down to three decimal places and includes a glass draft shield. This is probably the best laboratory balance for the money that you're going to find, no matter how you want to name it.
While these balances are not designed to take the place of our higher end Ohaus Adventurer models, the HRB are ideal balances for general laboratory, industrial and educational weighing applications requiring multiple weighing modes on a tight budget. Some nice features of the HRB balances include: All glass draft shield (on select models), leveling feet to ensure accurate weighing, removable stainless steel weigh pan, multiple weighing modes, Backlit LCD display, A/C power supply or AA battery power, and simple counting function (on select models).
If you're a science teacher or professor, you will be impressed with the quality and accuracy of the HRB-303 balance. As we mentioned earlier, while it's technically not an analytical balance, the HRB303 balances provide great value to many surroundings including a high school science classroom. The fact is, often junior high and high schools need to purchase more basic weighing instruments simply to meet their already low budget restraints. But, with the HRB 303 lab balances, students still get to operate a digital balance that features a glass draft shield and RS232 interface. Students can get acquainted with an educational balance that resembles the "brand name" analytical balances often used for high precision weighing and the school system is able to purchase a nice laboratory balance without going over budget.
