Airplane scales are available for purchase. Our typical scale utilized for weighing airplanes consists of three scale platforms. Some include one digital readout connected to all three platforms while other systems we offer are simply three separate scales which include their own independent weight readout. Most of our customers choose the popular Intercomp ACII portable scales. Please note items are subject to change based on manufacturer improvements. We also offer other choices to meet anyone's budget. We also offer baggage scales which are in a related category. We ship our aircraft scales from the factory, so when you order, you are getting the latest and greatest product straight from the manufacturer with the best features.
It's important to measure the weight of your aircraft as accurately as possible. Our Intercomp ACII scales are the recommended choice for many applications. However, one of the other recommendations we suggest is to have your scales checked & calibrated by a scale company periodically (at least once a year). The FAA would likely require that as well. We also suggest that you check your scales periodically yourself as well. Perhaps, you use a few of our cast iron test weights or possibly you have something that is a constant weight that you could use. This way you can be confident in your scale weights.
Our aircraft scales are factory calibrated before shipment. However, a lot can happen between the factory and your destination. Therefore, we do recommend that once you put the scales into service that you have a local company check and certify the scales at your location. As we mentioned earlier, we recommend an inspection and/or calibration every year as well. Most of the time, the scales won't need to be calibrated but you don't know for sure unless you have the scales checked with certified test weight.
