In today’s article we would like to discuss our favorite wheelchair scales. Or as one potential customer asked recently, “what wheelchair scale do you recommend”?
Actually we don’t have one favorite, we have a couple of scales that we think will work well for you. We touched on this awhile back as well.
When you’re in the market for a bariatric wheelchair scale, in our opinion, you really need to look for a scale that is well built and designed to last for years of service. This can be tricky since some of the top scale companies in the industry often use a lightweight weighing platform with heavy duty plastic style overlay for the wheelchair to drive over.
This may work ok… but it is not the type of design that we prefer. When we recommend a medical wheelchair scale, we like to focus on durability AND price. Often customers have a ballpark idea about prices from shopping for scales online.
With many wheelchair scales, the price range is typically around $1000 and up. Two of the models that we recommend are listed below.
PORTABLE WHEELCHAIR SCALE
First up is the portable health o meter wheelchair scale, the model 2400KL. The 2400KL is the perfect scale for locations where occasional wheelchair bound patients need to be weighed. The scale folds easily and requires minimal room for storage. The scale includes a handle for portability.
We recommend the 2400KL scale only in situations where portability from location to location is necessary. Otherwise, we recommend a more permanent scale such as the LWC below.
The other wheelchair scale that we recommend is the Tree LWC wheel chair scale. This scale is lightweight with aluminum construction but is pretty durable as well. The scale now has an upgraded 1000 pound capacity which should work out great in almost any situation.
So there you have it, we’ve answered the question, what wheelchair scale do you recommend? We also do like a few others that we didn’t talk a lot about including the Doran DS9100, Brecknell MS1000, and the Detecto CR-1000D.
